Does Moderate Drinking Good for Health?

Cancer latest news

You must have heard the phrase "moderate drinking is good for your health". Unlike the infamous cigarettes, wines that are class 1 carcinogens always exist as "health protectors". For example, the well-known red wine (wine), we have always heard that: Red wine is rich in active ingredients such as resveratrol and anthocyanins, which have antioxidant, anti-aging, and anti-cancer effects; drink a little every day Red wine is also good for the heart, it can soften blood vessels and prevent coronary heart disease. In medical professional institutions, however, red wine has never been recommended to the public as a positive image. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) clearly states that alcohol is an important carcinogen. Alas, what about good drinking? Is the right amount of alcohol harmful to health? The small circle will take you to learn more about it!

One out of every 18 cancers is a"drunkard"

The World Health Organization has long listed alcohol (drinks) as a Class 1 carcinogen. You know, 5.5% of cancers worldwide and 5.8% of cancer deaths are caused by alcohol. In terms of conversion, 1 out of 18 cancers are drunk. Drinking alcohol is directly related to common breast, colorectal, liver, esophageal, gastric, and pancreatic cancers. Of course, the type of cancer most closely related to alcohol comes from tissues that you will directly contact when you drink alcohol-such as oral cancer, laryngeal cancer, and esophageal cancer.

In addition, women in particular should not drink alcohol because alcohol appears to pose a greater risk to women than men. Data show that 16.4% of women with breast cancer in the United States are associated with drinking. Someone may want to ask, is it because you drink too much to cause problems? Does n’t drinking a bit less have health benefits?

Drinking a small amount is also harmful for your health

"It is good for the heart (body) to drink a small amount of alcohol, especially red wine." This argument is indeed widely spread, but it is not reliable. There are two reasons why it is not reliable:

Moderate drinking is persuading adults

Chinese people drink cancer more easily

Does Moderate Drinking Good for Health?

To explain this problem, we must start with the principle of carcinogenesis by alcohol. In fact, alcohol itself does not cause genetic mutations and does not cause cancer directly. The real danger is the metabolite of alcohol in the human body: acetaldehyde. After alcohol (ethanol) enters the body, it is metabolized to acetaldehyde by alcohol dehydrogenase, and then metabolized by acetaldehyde dehydrogenase to acetic acid and excreted. Ethanol is alcohol, and it is the source of "cool" drinking, which leads to the illusion of being drunk, and it is also the result of drunk driving; acetic acid can be understood as "vinegar" and has no toxic side effects. However, acetaldehyde, an intermediate metabolite, is a clear carcinogen. It is for this reason that the World Health Organization lists both alcoholic beverages and acetaldehyde as the most conclusive evidence of Class I carcinogens. So why do Chinese people drink alcohol more likely to cause cancer? Because the Chinese have defects in the genes of alcohol metabolism.

Anyone who has lived abroad will find that drinking and chewing is a Chinese (East Asian) feature, and foreigners after drinking are not as easy to blush as Chinese. The root cause of flushing when drinking alcohol is that Chinese people often carry mutant acetaldehyde dehydrogenase genes, which causes the body to be unable to effectively degrade acetaldehyde. After acetaldehyde accumulates in the body, it can cause vasodilation, which seems to be blush and tendons, forming a phenomenon of "drinking on the face".

Some studies in East Asian populations have found that people who have a deficiency in the acetaldehyde dehydrogenase gene have a higher risk of developing cancer than those who do not. In other words, when it comes to drinking and causing cancer, the Chinese have suffered from birth, even if they drink a moderate amount. If you drink and blush like me, it means that the risk of carcinogenesis is higher. Please drink less, after all, genes (innate) are not powerful!
